Clonmel Town took the lead against the run of play with a fine effort from outside of box, giving Shane Maguire in the goal no chance. Villa responded and continued to dominate and got a deserved equaliser from a corner through Kieran Hennessy. Half time 1-1
Villa started the second half with the same pace as the first half and up-front Kieran Hennessy and Damo Grimes continued to run the Clonmel defence ragged with Andrew Halloran and Kevin Croke dominating the midfield exchanges. u14 SFAI National Cup Forth Celtic, Wexford 2 - 1 Peake Villa (AET)
Scorer for Villa Josh Connelly
Peake Villa travelled down to Wexford on a sunny Sunday morning to play Forth Celtic in the National cup. Peake Villa started the game very strong and had Forth Celtic on the back foot from the get go. Villa moved the ball superbly with some great passing throughout the team. After some missed chances and on twenty minutes on the clock Villa did take a well deserved lead with a super goal from team captain Josh Connelly, who found the top corner of the goals from outside the box with the ball going in off the post. Villa kept the pressure on but could not find the 2nd. Halftime 1-0 to Villa.
In the 2nd half Villa continued to put the pressure on the Forth Celtic backline and hit the post on no less than three occasions. However on a breakaway Forth Celtic forced a corner with ten minutes to go. From this corner the ball came into the box, was half cleared and from the resulting shot it hit one of the Villa players hand and the Referee awarded a penalty. The forth Celtic player cooling slotted it home giving the Villa keeper Josh Cody no chance in the goals. 1-1 and game on.
Villa made a few more chances but could not find the winner and the game went into extra time. The game opened up now for both teams as they went all out for the win. Villa had several great chances with the Forth Celtic keeper having a Man of the Match performance in the goals to keep the score level from Scott Brennan’s header, Niall Dunne’s shot that looked destined to go into the top corner. Josh Connelly hit another rasper but only for the Forth Celtic keeper to once again keep his side in the contest. Robbie Stapleton hit the post again but as these games go, missed chances came back to haunt Villa as a mis-controlled touch in the backline led to the Forth Celtic player getting on the ball in a dangerous position and Josh Connelly was left with no choice but to pull him down. This resulted in the Villa captain getting his 2nd yellow card of the game and was sent off. Villa were now down to ten men with five minutes to go. Villa still looked like they were good for the win however in the last minute Forth Celtic won the ball in midfield and drove forward and when Villa failed to clear the ball the Forth Celtic winger hit a superb shot from all of 25yrds to hit the top corner of the net and give Josh in goals no chance. Villa had no time left to even create an attack to force penalties. Final Score Forth Celtic 2 - 1 Peake Villa.
The boys played some great stuff and will feel hard done by to have left as the losing team. A super team performance from start to finish, just on the day the Forth Celtic Keeper was the difference with some top class saves. A special mention to Corey Moore and the U13 players Kieran Purcell, Diarmuid Campion and Danny Moore who came at short notice to help cover.
u18 WFAI National Cup Peake Villa 1 - 7 Aisling, Annacotty
Scorer for Villa Lauren McCormack
History was made today at Peake Villa when we fielded a Girls u18 team for the first time in the WFAI National Cup. Unfortunately Villa came up against a strong Annacotty side that have been playing together for over 6 years and they totally outclassed the young Villa side. Villa had to regig the starting eleven when news came through that regular goalkeeper had injured her hip on a school weekend away, our thanks to Sinead Campion who took on the role as goalkeeper. From the kick-off both teams were playing cagey football as the girls took the measure of each other. On ten minutes the Annacotty winger (No 10) broke down the left and fired a low rasper of a shot past Sinead into the back of the net. The Villa girls were finding it tough for their first u18 match and were made pay for three successive first touch errors when the Annacotty winger pounced on all three errors to score three goals in quick succession. Sinead was very busy in this half and made two fine reflex saves in quick succession. With a few minutes to half-time left Annacotty scored their fifth from a superb corner kick that was met on the volley in the square to give no chance to Sinead in goal. Half-time 5-0 to Annacotty.
In the second half Villa tried to put the dissapointment of the first half performance behind them and put their heart and soul into a much improved second half performance. Carla, Lauren and Eva started to combine better in mid-field and with Ciara upfront created a number of chances that were well saved by the Annacotty keeper. Villa continued to push forward to get a goal and were caught on the break from a corner clearance and a fine solo effort by the Annacotty player for their sixth goal. Villa continued to make inroads down the right side with Katie and Brooke combining to play a lovely through ball to Lauren on the wing, who crossed to Ciara whose first time shot was well blocked by the Annacotty central defender. The block rebounded to Lauren's feet and she reacted quickly to score from outside the box with a superb kick into the top left hand corner. 6-1. With a few minutes left the right winger for Annacotty broke past the Villa defence to score their seventh. Final Score 7-1.
This was a baptism of fire for the u18 Girls, but there is room for improvement before our first league outing in two weeks time.

Youth League Division 1 Clonmel town 1 - 1 Peake Villa
Villa youths travelled to Clonmel today and started slowly conceeding a penalty after ten minutes which Town converted. Villa started to get more of the ball as the half went on, but chances were few and far between. Half time 1-0 to Clonmel Town. The second half saw Villa have a lot of the ball, but Town were hard to break down defending resolutely. But with ten minutes remaining Mikey Nalley struck a lovely ball across the face of the goal where it was met by Ronan McGuire who slid it into the back of the net for the equaliser. There were chances for both teams at either end after that, but remained all square at the finish.
U16 SFAI National Cup Dungarvan Utd 0 - 3 Peake Villa
Our 16's travelled to Dungarvan for their first outing of the season against familiar opposition having played them in the first round away last season, losing out on the odd goal on that occasion. This time round the tables were turned with the boy's playing superbly to secure a good away win. The first ten minutes was a cagey affair with both teams settling into the game. It was Villa who took the lead on fourteen minutes when good play In the final third saw Alejandro Garcia break through the home defence and he made no mistake, slotting it passed the keeper. Villa were on top for the next fifteen minutes and doubled their lead in the 29th minute when Jack Kelly found Dillon Maher in space and he made no mistake, scoring to put Villa 2 up. The home side had chances too and hit the post just before half time but it was Villa who went in 2-0 up at the break.
The boy's played some great football with Henry Fogarty and Alejandro Garcia running the game in midfield and the back four of Paddy Creedon, James Armstrong, Danny Treacy and Tony Galvin were solid as a rock. Villa went 3-0 ahead in the 65th minute when a free kick from Jack Kelly was met by Dillon Maher who scored his second of the day. Villa could have went further ahead when Garcia was taken down in the area and Dillon Maher who was on his hatrick attempt, but was unsuccessful from the spot. The home side had two good chances with ten minutes to go, hitting the crossbar and making our keeper Stephen Donovan work when he made a great fingertip save. A good start to the season for our U16's who were well worth the victory playing some great passing football.
