Junior A 1-0 Bansha Celtic A
Scorer: Ronan McGuire (1)
Villa got back on track with a hard fought win over a big strong Bansha side. The first half was a battle with a lot of the game being played at a stop start pace which suited the away side. Villa were more direct in the 2nd half and were the way better side but could not breakdown the robust Bansha back four. The breakthrough came after 65 minutes when a Tommy Teer drive was too hot to handle and the incoming Ronan McGuire calmly finished to the net for another vital goal by the still youth player. Villa held on for a vital 3 points and are now back in the league race.
Junior B 3-3 St. Nicholas
Scorers: Kieran Hennessey (1), Damien Grimes (1) David Bourke (1)
Villa travelled to outside Tipperary Town today looking to continue recent good form. Villa stated well on a poor pitch and a dogged home defence and went 1-0 up through a good strike from Kieran Hennessy. Villa continued to battle with the home team in what became a very dogged and sometimes aggressive midfield exchange. Half time 1-0 to Villa. The second half began with Villa completely dominating but failing to finish off chances until Damo Grimes header made it 2-0. The cards began to fly from the referee with a few strange decisions made but a third from man of the match Davy Bourke left Villa 3-0 ahead. The home team got a reply straight away and after Villa hitting post and crossbar twice the hosts got a second with a fine header from centre forward 3-2 Villa. At this stage the referee had dished out a few more yellows and somehow awarded the home team a penalty when their player fell to the ground. Despite best efforts of keeper Shane McGuire the penalty went in and game was now 3-3. With ten minutes left, the game became difficult with the referee sending two players off for no apparent reason and despite a couple of dubious offside decisions by the referee against Villa, the game ended 3-3. This was a disappointing end to the day for Villa after what promised be a good day, best efforts from Jamie Maher, Darragh Byrne and man of match Davy Bourke.
u18 Girls 0-5 St. Kevin's
The was the first league game for the Villa Girls u18 team and it was against St. Kevin's who had 7 of last years Peake Villa players in their squad. It was also going to be a difficult day for the rebuilt Peake Villa side and Kevin's scored their first goal from a failed clearance from a corner, 1-0 to St. Kevin's. Villa tried but could not get past the Kevin's back four so had to resort to shot's from outside the box which were easily dealt with by the Kevin's keeper. Half Time 1-0 to St. Kevin's.
To be fair to the Villa girls they did keep Kevin's to 1-0 scorline for the majority of the game but their lack of match fitness caught up on them and allowed Kevin's to score 4 goals in the last quarter of the game. Full-time 0-5 to St. Kevin's.
u14 Girls 2-2 St. Kevin's
Scorer: Zoe Doherty (2)
This was a tough game from the start, each team having chances but St Kevin's taking theirs and took a two-nil lead to half-time. It was an open 2nd half and St Kevin's looked to have done enough until Zoe Doherty scored with a wondrous strike and 5 mins later also Zoe equalised with a tap in to help with a great comeback to get a 2 all draw. Great match.

Scorers: Danny Moore (1), Cian Cleary (1), Dermot Campion (1), James Woodlock (1), Eoin Carew (1)
This was a great win for u13As v Moyglass. Peake Villa dominated from the start but went one down when caught by a great break from Moyglass. Villa equalised quickly through Danny Moore and Cian Cleary put Villa ahead before half time. In the second half, Villa got a 3rd from Dermot Campion and a fantastic first of the season from James Woodlock. Eoin Carew finished the day with a 5th. Final score 5-1 to Peake Villa.
u13B Boys lost 0-5 Mullinahone
For the second game in a row, the score line does not do justice to the effort of the u13B players, they played some lovely football but failed to capitalise on their scoring chances, which Mullinahone did with some clinical finishing.
SFAI National Cup 3rd Round u15A Boys won 1-0 Evergreen (Kilkenny)
Scorer: Alejandro Garcia (1)
Our U15's entertained Kilkenny City Kingpins Evergreen in the 3rd round of the National cup up at the Tower grounds. The game started at a frantic pace with both sides playing some neat football. It was a typical cup tie with limited chances in the first half with the best chance falling to Evergreen from a corner with the header just going over the crossbar. 0-0 at half-time.
The second half started as the first finished with both teams looking for the opening goal. Liam McCormack put the ball in the Evergreen net in the 45th minute when great play from Darragh Stakelum on the end line saw him find McCormack but the ball was judged to have crossed the end line and a goal kick was awarded. The breakthrough came mid-way through the half when a Danny Treacy free kick was met by Alejandro Garcia Diaz whose header was unstoppable to put Villa 1-0 ahead. With 20 minutes to go Evergreen were not out of it and threw everything at the Villa defence but they couldn't break down a resolute defence marshalled well by the back four and Josh Coady in the Villa goal. Villa were awarded a free kick with 10 minutes to go and Dias made the keeper work hard. It looked like Cathal McElgunn put Villa 2-0 up but he was judged to have kicked the ball out of the keepers hands and a free kick out was awarded.
The boys held out for a hard earned win which puts them into the last 32 of the SFAI Cup and they now have a South East Regional semi final aginst North-End to look forward too. Final score 1-0 Peake Villa.
u15B Boys lost 1-7 away to Gortnahoe
Villa travelled to Gortnahoe with a makeshift u15B team as a number of players were contesting a hurling final. Villa called up a number of u14 players but were unable to mount any sort of a challenge and were well beaten by the clinical finishing of the Gortnahoe squad.
TSDL Tipp Cup 1st Round Youths lost 2-3 on Penalties St. Michael's
St. Michael's 0-0 Peake Villa, AET St. Michael's 0-0 Peake Villa, St. Michael's won 3-2 on Penalties
Villa travelled to St. Micheal's for a tough all top-flight clash in a typical tough cup game. In cold wet conditions with a softened pitch to deal with, the home side adapted to conditions better, playing the better early football. Villa grew into the half with both sides creating little clear cut chances half time 0-0.
Second half was also a tight affair with chances few and far between Micheal's came close with 3 efforts from a goalmouth scramble which Villa were lucky to escape. Villa's best chance fell to Ronan McGuire when he broke through one on one and was denied a shot on goal from a superb last gasp challenge from Micheal's centre half, full time 0-0.
In extra time the game went mostly the same way with both defences standing tough, the extra time maintained the deadlock and finished 0-0. So the cup tie went to the dreaded penalty shootout, Eoghan Tinkler stopped 3 of Micheal's kicks with spectacular saves and was very unlucky with the rest getting close to each shot. Unfortunately, the Villa's penalties were also not scored so after five it was 2-2 and we went to sudden death. It just wasn't to be Villa's day as Micheal's went through to the next round 3-2.
The Villa back four were very solid and Eoghan Tinkler a tower of strength between the sticks again for Villa, we also mention to Mikey Nalley and Jack Ryan-Casey who were dogged in midfield. Best of luck to St. Michael's in the next round.
