Match Report TSDL Premier League
Cahir Park FC 0 - 1 Peake Villa FC
Our first team started their league campaign away to Cahir Park. Villa started brightly and had the best efforts on goal in the opening exchanges. Mikey Wade and Kieran Hennessy made the Cahir keeper make 2 saves early on and Wade came close with a free kick midway through the half. The best effort of the 1st half fell to James O Sullivan when his strike which would have been an early goal of the season conte...nder from the half Volley was excellently saved by Aaron Wall in the Cahir goal. 0-0 at half time.
The second half was very like the 1st with Villa playing some good football but they couldn't break through a stern Cahir defence. Cahir did have more joy themselves in the 2nd half but the Villa defence were in fine form all game.
The break through came in the 84th minute when Tommy Teer never gave up on a ball on the edge of the box and the Cahir keeper did not deal with it, Teer intercepted the ball and played it back out to O Sullivan who found Davie Mahoney who put Maris Baltins in and he placed the ball in the bottom corner. A good finish. Villa were reduced to 10 when Davie Mahoney received a harsh 2nd yellow and with a nice bit of injury time the boy's had to see out the last 13 minutes which they did.
This was always going to be a tricky encounter away to a newly promoted side. Jody Brolan and Padraig O Connor made some important substitution's in the 2nd half and also changed the formation which opened up the Cahir defence and ultimately won the game for Villa.
A great game and squad performance.
