TSDL Junior Premier League - Peake Villa 7-1 Clonmel Celtic

Our A team entertained Clonmel Celtic in their first home game of the season. Villa were out of the blocks quick and went ahead in the 6th minute when Captain Pippy Carroll calmly slotted passed the Celtic keeper after good build up play from James O'Sullivan. It was 2-0 6 minutes later when Matthew McKevitt scored in the 12th minute after good interchange play between Pippy and Matthew. Villa made it 3-0 in the 20th minute when a quick corner from James O'Sullivan ended with Matthew McKevitt getting his boot on the end of the cross. Celtic got one back in the 41st minute when Johnny Cagney scored from an excellent free kick which Villa's goalie Willie Tierney could do nothing about. Villa made it 4-1 in the 45th minute when Tommy Teer put Pippy Carroll through and he again made no mistake. 4-1 HT.

Villa came out in the 2nd half and their tempo didn't drop one bit and they went at Celtic from the start. They went 5-1 ahead in the 57th minute when Tommy Teer hit the Celtic post and McKevitt was on hand to tap it in to secure his hattrick. McKevitt scored his 4th when in the 77th minute a Carroll cross was headed on by Kieran Hennessy and was headed in by McKevitt to make it 6-1. McKevitt wasn't finished and took his tally to 5 after making it 7-1 in the 89th minute to cap a fine performance in front of goal.

Some fine performances for Villa today too many to mention. The energy showed throughout the team today and from the players, it is a testament to the great pre-season training that the boys put in. Full Time 7-1.

TSDL Junior Division 1 League - Peake Villa 2-0 Rosegreen

Villa B kicked off their season in Division 1 this morning against Rosegreen minus 10 regulars through suspension, holidays and injury but still managed to have a squad of 12 for the game. The game started brightly with Villa on the front foot. Adam Garrett and Jack Ryan Casey were both handfuls for the Rosegreen back line. A couple of early dangerous balls into the Villa area were well dealt with by a strong and commanding back three of Darren Connor, Kevin Quinn and Mathew Fogarty. Villa kept the pressure on and in the 36th minute after been awarded a free in his own half quick thinking by Davy Carroll played a quick ball into the feet of Adam Garrett who took a couple of touches and rifled a right foot strike into the bottom corner 1-0 Villa. Villa continued to dominate for remainder of the half and were unlucky on couple of occasions after great work from Darragh Byrne and Jack Ryan Casey down the left. Half time 1-0

In the second half Villa now had the advantage of the strong wind which the visitors were struggling to deal with at times and were under huge pressure in the middle from Seamie Hanafin and new signing Liam McCucheon who dominated the midfield and were in total control assisted by Darragh Byrne and Jack Ryan Casey who continued to torment the visitors defence on the wings. In the 60th minute a superb free kick from Mark Lennon was fumbled by the keeper and Kevin Quinn got on end of it only for keeper to save again before the ball spilled out in front of Adam Garrett who made no mistake to put Villa 2-0 up with his second goal. Villa could have added a few more goals as the game came to an end with the visitors causing little trouble to Shane McGuire's goal and the game ended 2-0 to Villa.

Great performance all round today, especially with a lot of players to join back up with squad next week, means there is great competition for places, Excellent on the day were Darren Connor, Matthew Fogarty, Jack Ryan Casey and two goal hero Adam Garrett.

TSDL Youths Division 1 League - Clonmel Celtic 0-3 Peake Villa

Our youth's travelled to Clonmel Celtic on Saturday for the first league game of the season. Villa started brightly and should have went ahead in the 4th minute when Kevin Patan blazed over from close range. Villa pressed hard for the first 20 mins playing some good football and created a nice few half chances. In the 22nd minute Cian Stakelum rattled the crossbar with a great strike. Celtic came more into the game in the last 20 mins of the half but the Villa defence were capable of handling any threat. Villa took the lead in the 39th minute when a Jack Kelly free kick was headed into the bottom corner by Cian Stakelum.

A deserved lead for the boy's going into the half time break. 0-1 Half Time.

Villa upped the ante in the second half and were guilty of missing some great chances in front of goal. Villa went 2-0 ahead in the 54th minute when Lorcan Cummins in the Villa goal kicked the ball straight down on the Celtic defence which was missed by the full back and Patan ran onto it and made no mistake scoring. Villa were in control at this stage. There were good performances from Jack Ryan Casey and Cian Stakelum in midfield. Tony Galvin had a great 2nd half along with Kieran Costello. Villa made it 3-0 in the last minute when Patan scored again from close in. A good team performance and a good start for our youths away from home. Full time 0-3.
