Sunday December 16th
TSDL Premier League Peake Villa Junior A 2-2 Cahir Park A
Scorer: Frank McKevitt (2)
Our Junior A team came away from this game wondering how they did not take all three points. Villa started best and were on the front foot from the start. Villa took the lead in the 11th minute when they were awarded a penalty. Pippy Carroll took the penalty, but it was saved by the Cahir keeper and was cleared but Villa regained possession and Frank McKevitt was put through and he scored with a nice finish. Just a minute later Villa made it 2-0 when again McKevitt received the ball and from the same angle as the first goal scored again. Villa switched off two minutes later and Cahir were awarded a penalty which they scored to make it 2-1. Villa created some good chances late in the half, but couldn't convert and went in at the break 2-1 up.
The second half was much the same as the first with Villa doing all the pressing but were guilty of missing some serious chances. In the 69th minute Cahir broke away from a Villa corner and scored to make it 2-2. Villa pressed hard for the equaliser in the last 20 minutes but it wasn't to be their day hitting the post twice and guilty of missing some great chances in front of goal. It finished 2-2 but it will feel like a loss for the boys who stay 2nd in the league but loose a little ground on league leaders St. Michael's.
