Sunday 31st March

TSDL Clonmel Credit Union Premier League - Peake Villa Junior A 0-2 Bansha Celtic

TSDL Division1 League - Peake Villa Junior B 4-0 Cullen Lattin

Scorers: Kevin Patan (1) Tommy Brophy (2) Jack Ryan Casey (1)

Villa entertained Cullen who needed at least a point to avoid relegation and despite missing a few regulars through suspension, injury and work commitments Villa got the 3 points. Villa were slow to start the game with a bit of early pressure from Cullen but Kevin Quinn and Cormac Lanigan were solid in the heart of the Villa defence. Villa came more into the game and on 14 minutes a through ball from Stevie Fewer found Kevin Patan, who’s fierce shot found the back of the Cullen net to put Villa 1-0 ahead. Villa continued to press and good work from Eoin Dwyer and Darragh Byrne nearly had Patan in for a second but the shot went wide. In the 34th minute after good work from Jack Ryan Casey and Stevie Fewer in middle found Tommy Brophy, who turned his man and put Kevin Patane in again. One-on-one with the keeper and Patan made no mistake to grab his and Villa's second goal, 2-0 Villa. Cullen threatened before the end of the half but solid defending from Davy Carroll and Mark Lennon kept Cullen out and Shane McGuire in the Villa goal was on hand to make a couple of decent saves to keep it 2-0 Villa half time.

In the second half Cullen pushed up looking get back into the game but this opened up the game and Jack Ryan Casey and Kevin Patan started to dominate the game, creating chances for Eoin O'Dwyer and Tommy Brophy. After another fine solo run from Patan, he was through on goal and laid off a superb pass for Tommy Brophy to tap home, to put Villa 3-0 up after 64 minutes. Cullen had a few chances as they threw caution to the wind but again Cormac Lanigan and the evergreen Kevin Quinn were superb in defence and Shane McGuire again pulled off an excellent one hand save to deny the visitors.

Substitutes Tom Shorley, Faolán Linnane and Jordan Fahy we’re introduced and got involved straight away with Shorley unlucky on a couple of occasions not to score after some good runs and a Jordan Fahy volley brought an excellent save out of the visitors keeper. On 67 minutes the ever running Jack Ryan Casey after pressure on the home defence, closed down a back pass to the keeper and was rewarded with a goal for his efforts. Villa had couple more chances from Mark Lennon corners to score but saw out the game to finish up with a 4-0 score line and another clean sheet. It was an excellent effort from all 14 players on the day with Shane McGuire again excellent in the goal along with defenders Kevin Quinn and Cormac Lanigan who were superb. In midfield Stevie Fewer and Jack Ryan Casey were immense in dominating the game but man of the match on the day went to 2 goal hero Kevin Patan who tormented the Cullen defence all day.

TSSDL u18 Girls Premier League - Peake Villa u18 0-8 Clerihan

TSSDL u14 Girls Premier League - Peake Villa u14 0-4 St. Kevin's

Saturday 30th March

TSSDL u16 Boys Premier League - Clonmel Town A 1-2 Peake Villa u16
Scorers: Calum Blakeborough (1) Clonmel (OG)

The Villa under 16's made the journey down to Clonmel missing a couple of first team regulars in what would be their first game of the season. Villa hit the front early when Calum Blakeborough got on the end of a Sean Condron free-kick to put Villa ahead. It was a lead that wouldn't last too long as the host were level when a through ball beat our defence and was cooly slotted home. With 5 minutes left in the first half a quality Danny Treacy free kick was met by a Clonmel head to put Villa back in front. Half-time 2-1 to Villa.

The second half was one of less excitement with clear cut chances few and far between thanks to excellent defending with Shane Turner and Sean Condron taking control. That being said a couple of saves from captain Gavin O'Saughnessy kept the home side at bay. Corey Moore had a chance to put the game to bed when he broke through the Clonmel defence only for the ball to bounce up and strike his arm. A clever free kick from Sean Condron to Danny Treacy led to a last minute penalty but unfortunately the post denied Danny. Best for Villa Calum Blakeborough, Sean Condron and Shane Turner.

TSSDL u14 Boys Premier League - MATCH POSTPONED
Clonmel Celtic P-P Peake Villa u14A

TSSDL u14 Boys Championship League - Mullinahone A 6-2 Peake Villa u14B

An under-strenght Villa team travelled to Mulinahone for this league match. Mulinahone hit the ground running and Villa found themselves 3 down in a short few minutes. Villa found it hard to get any momentum and only for Ashton Jordan in goal things could have been a lot worse, the captain pulling off some top class saves. Villa conceded 2 more to conclude a poor first half.

Strong words at half time and a different Villa showed up in the second half. Villa grabbed a goal back when Michael McCormack curled a good shot into the top corner after good work from Adam Jones. An another few chances fell for Villa but the final shot was just off target. Michael added his 2nd with 10 minutes left and in fairness the lads really tried to rally. Mulinahone added a late goal to make it 6-2. Some solid performances today and man of the match goes to Ashton. Special thanks to u13 players Conor and Finnan.

Friday 29th March

TSSDL u12 Boys Premier League - Cahir Park 1-1 Peake Villa u12A
Scorer: John Fitzgerald (1)

This was Villa's u12A squad first league match of the new 2019 season away to Cahir Park on their astro surface. Villa started brightly and Alex Coppinger first time shot on goal blazed past the keeper only to hit the cross-bar and deflect wide.Over the next 10 minutes Cillian Minogue, Liam Gleeson and Nial Murphy all came close but their shots were well saved by the Cahir keeper who had an excellent match. Cahir came more into the game and their striker was denied a goal by a great save from Ronan O'Dwyer in the Villa net. The Villa rotation of Bill Fogarty, Lucy Purcell. Cian O'Dwyer and Colm Hickey were making the defensive tackles when needed and linked up very well with the mid-field rotation of Alex Coppinger, John Fitzgerald, Cillian Moinogue, Chloe Shorley, Ben Moroney, James Lloyd and Connor Carroll. Liam Gleeson and Niall Murphy rotated very well in the striker position. Just before half-time Ben Moroney was unlucky when his first-time volley shot beat the keeper but rebounded off the cross-bar. Half-time 0-0.

At the strart of the second-half Villa put a lot of pressure on the Cahir defence and John Fitzgerald scored after great passing play down the left side by Alex and Cian, with John meeting Cian's cross with a first time shot which flew past the diving Cahir keeper. Cahir responded to Villa scoring by having two of their own shots on target, but the upright and cross-bar came to Villa's rescue. Both sides continued to play some great passing soccer but neither side could get past the other's defences. With five minutes left a misplaced Villa pass went to a Cahir player who kept his cool to slot the ball into the bottom left corner. Villa responded and were awarded a free kick just out out-side the box. Alex Coppinger hit a sweet left-footed kick that was blocked in the box by the hands of a Cahir player in the wall, but somehow this was missed by the referee who blew the final whistle. 1-1.

This was a very good display by both sides.
