Saturday 19th April
Boys u16 League Peake Villa 4 - 1 Clonmel Celtic.
This was a great display of underage football with both teams giving 100%. Peake Villa struck first from the kick-off, as Jack Hackett raced onto a back pass between the Celtic central defender and his keeper, to slot the ball home underneath the diving Celtic Keeper. The concession of an early goal did not rattle Clonmel and they had a number of chances on the PV goal that kept Andjis Mickelson busy. Villa also missed a number of chances and were made to pay for their lack of finishing in front of goal when on a minute before half time Clonmel Celtic broke quickly and scored the equaliser. HT 1 - 1.
In the second half Villa came out with all guns blazing determined to make up for the missed chanches in the first half. in the 5th minute Connor Murphy collected the ball in defence, passed quickly to Curtis Ryan on the wing who then played a great pass in front of Matthew McKevitt, who hit a brillant shot from the corner of the box in over the keeper left side for Villa's second. Villa continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded when Colm Pearson latched onto a cross from the right to volley an unstopple shot into the back of the net. Clonmel Celtic had numerous chances but were unable to break down the Villa defence who were intent in keeping a 2nd half clean sheet. 10 minutes from time Villa secured the points when Bill Darcy latched onto a clearance from the Celtic defence to hit a shot from 30 yards out, over the keepers head and into the back of the net. Final Score 4-1.
