John Delaney Cup 1/4 Final

Full-Time: Peake Villa 3-3 Borroway Rovers
Scorers: Pippy Carroll (16 mins, 26 mins) Eoin O'Dwyer (32mins)

Extra-Time: Peake Villa 5-3 Borroway Rovers
Scorers: Keith Cahill (4 mins) Pippy Carroll (8 mins)

An entertaining John Delaney Cup tie between the neighbours was had last evening. Villa were quickly out of the blocks and went 1 up through Pippy Carroll with a fine header from a corner kick on 16 minutes. Pippy added his second after 26 minutes with a side-footed kick into the net after a great cross by Keith Cahill. Eoin Dwyer made it 3-0 with a fine finish with the assist from Pippy after 32 minutes. Borroway got one back through Jake Moore just before half-time to make it 3-1 at the break.

To Borroway's credit they took the game to Villa at the start of the second half and good finishes from Tommy McGuire and Callum O'Connor had the teams level with 20 mins left. Both teams had chances to win it, with Tommy and Callum for Borroway and on the other end Frank McKevitt, Pippy and Adam Garrett also had chances, so full-time finished at 3-3.

So to extra time and this is where Villa took control again with Keith Cahill (4 mins) and a super freekick from Pippy (8 mins) putting an end to the scoring. Extra time 5-3. The Villa management will be happy to get over the line with a few of the senior players missing.

Villa would like to wish Borroway all the best of luck with the rest of their season, with 5 games to play they are leading their league and with so many ex-Villa players it would be great to see our neighbours get over the line.
