TSSDL Match Reports Week 29
Sunday October 6th
TSSDL u16 Girls Premier League - Peake Villa u16 3-2 Cahir Park
Scorers: Marian Missy Condon (2) Chloe Cummins (1)
It was great to see a full team squad back in action and how it makes the difference. Villa started this game slowly and conceded an early Cahir goal. So Villa then went chasing and were unlucky with a few chances, but the pressure applied by the Villa Girls finally paid off when first Marian Missy Condon scored and then Chloe Cummins scored to give Villa a 2-1 lead at halftime 2-1.
The 2nd half was all Villa, creating great chances but Cahir's keeper pulled off some great saves to deny Villa. With the few chances they had, Cahir equalised with 10 minutes left. To their credit the Villa girls, with a minute left, Emma kicked a long kick out, headed on by Chloe onto a great run by Missy who calmly slotted it away for the winner with a minute left. Great game and strong 2nd half performance for the win.

SFAI u13 National Cup - Peake Villa u12A 4-2 Killeshin (Carlow)
Scorers: Leelan Donohue (1) Cilliam Minogue (2) Conor Carroll (1)
Peake Villa hosted Carlow side Killeshin in the refixed U13 National Cup game after it was abandoned 2 weeks earlier due to heavy rain, thunder & lightening. With the weather not much better today it was Killeshin who started the brightest and had the ball in the back of the Villa net after only 4 minutes when a mix up in defence caused a wayward pass for the Killeshin striker to latch onto and score. Villa grew into the game very quickly after this and scored the equaliser in the 7 minute when some great pressure by the midfield three of Chloe Shorley, Tom Daly & Leelan Donoghue forced the ball to break to the edge of the box for Leelan Donohue to hit a beautiful strike into the bottom corner. Villa kept the pressure up and had a couple of more half chances in the next few minutes with Cian O'Dwyer hitting the crossbar and Conor Carroll also going close. Killeshin showed they were still very dangerous when a break down the left allowed the winger to put the ball into the box and when Villa failed to clear the ball, the Killeshin striker had the easiest of finishes to put Killeshin 2-1 after 15 minutes. Villa to their credit kept their heads up and within 5 minutes scored the equaliser again, when Cillian Minogue had a fine finish from the right of the box after dribbling past 2 defenders and hitting the ball low into the far corner. Villa continued to pile on the pressure and with only 1 minute to go to half time were awarded a free kick just outside the left of the box. Cillian stepped up and with a superb free kick found the far top corner to give Villa a deserved lead. Halftime 3-2.
The 2nd half started with both teams pushing to get the next goal. Killeshin were doing their best to breakdown the Villa defence but the back 5 of Ronan O'Dwyer, Bill Fogarty, Ben Moroney, Liam Gleeson & Alex Coppinger had stepped up their game from the 1st half and were not giving up any easy chances, with some solid defending all round. Killeshin had several corners and from one of these corners the ball fell to the Killeshin midfielder who unleashed a super shot to the top corner and what looked certain to be the equaliser only for the Villa keeper Ronan to get across quickly and make a wonderful save and even manage to smother the ball after the save. Killeshin were playing in some super balls from the multiple corners they got only for the Villa defence to handle them all very well and even create some chances of their own through the quick break away. One of these breakaways saw some great play between Cillian & Cian to put Chloe through on goal, who let rip a super shot only to see the Kilkeshin keeper get a strong hand to it and give Villa a corner. Villa had only 3 corners in the game with 2 of these giving us great chances to get the 4th goal and kill the game. That 4th goal did come with only 2 minutes to go when a quick break from the back started by the keeper Ronan who throw the ball short to Liam who found Bill up the wing who in turn found Tom in the middle of the park who cleverly switched play to the left to find Cian who quickly got past his man and put in a super ball to Conor Carroll for the easiest goal he is likely to get with a back post tap in. Villa saw out the last 2 minutes with some great play by James Lloyd and Tom holding the ball up in the Killeshin corner. This was a super squad performance with both Colm Hickey and James Lloyd coming off the bench to slot in and give 2 super performances. Full time Peake Villa 4-2 Killeshin
This was a great display by Villa in their 1st competitive game playing 11v11. Joint Man of the Match on the day was Leelan Donohue and Cillan Minogue. Villa were missing 3 players on the day through illness and other commitments but this was still a great squad performance with all 13 players playing a vital part.
