Villa travelled to Ferryhouse on Sunday morning with a depleted squad for various reasons and had to call up a number of youths to the squad on the day. Villa started brightly and with Robert Jordan and Sean Butler dominating midfield Villa created a couple early chances through Kevin Patan and John Walsh but failed to trouble home keeper. Clonmel went 1-0 up after 10 minutes through an own goal after a Shane McGuire save bounced in off a Villa defender. Villa continued to push but failed to convert a couple of Mark Lennon crosses from corners and frees and went in 1-0 down at half time.

In the second half all of Villa's possession had no reward and chances missed from Kevin Patan and Jordan Fahey were punished by Clonmel scoring from a corner to go 2-0 up. Villa pushed on looking get back in game but failed to test home keeper despite lots of possession and were caught for a Clonmel 3rd on 70 minutes, a counter attack from a Villa corner.
