TSDL Match Reports Week 8

Sunday 13th October

TSDL Premier League - Peake Villa Junior A 1-0 Bansha Celtic A

Scorer: Johnny Coleman (1)

Our first team entertained Bansha Celtic A on Sunday afternoon in what was always going to be a tight affair if you were going by previous results between these sides. Villa had the best of the opening half coming close on a few occasions. In the 1st minute Mikey Wade crossed a great ball that was met by the head of Johnny Coleman whose header went just over. Tommy Teer made a great cross field pass to Mikey Wade whose shot was half blocked by the defender and the keeper dealt with it. Darragh Byrne came close in the 15th minute when Kevin Patan found him in space at the back post but Darragh's shot hit the post. Patan was provider again in the 18th minute when from some good work on the wing he managed to find Keith Cahill in space but his shot was saved by the Bansha goalie. That was the best chance of a goal in the half and the sided went in at the break level.

The second half was very much like the 1st with Villa doing all the pressing and Bansha hoping to catch them on the break. Bansha's defence was stern and wasn't for giving much away and with at least 70 percent of possession Villa were struggling to break them down. It was going to take something special to do it and it was a great bit of play in the 89th minute that broke the deadlock. Eoin O Dwyer picked up the ball on the wing and Mikey Wade made himself available on the overlap he received the ball and put in a great cross that found Johnny Coleman in space in the box and he slotted home to get the winner, which the home team deserved for their efforts. It is early in the season but a big win none the less for the home side. Some good performances for Villa today with Evan McCormack, Michael Ryan, Tommy Teer and Johnny Coleman best on the day. Full Time 1-0.
