TSDL Premier League - Peake Villa Junior A 4-2 Glengoole United

Villa started the quicker and were 1 up after 5 minutes through Pippy Carroll. 15 mins later Pippy was on hand in the box to score another. 2-0 to Villa. With Villa dominating at this stage it looked like it would be an easy day at the office, but to their credit Glengoole fought hard to get back into the game and were rewarded with a goal 5 mins before half-time. Villa then missed a penalty just on the stroke of half-time. Half-time 2-1.
Villa came out on the front foot and scored trough Johnny Coleman from a header after a super cross by Tommy Teer. Villa scored their 4th from Ronan McGuire, to keep his run of goals going this season. Glengoole scored their 2nd with 10 minutes left. Villa saw the game out from then on and the games finished with a 4-2 win for Villa, this was another vital 3 points in the league, Villa are now on 18 points from their six games played, which is a tremendous squad performance.

Villa travelled to Cahir park today to defend their paddy Purtill Cup success from last season and despite missing a number of regulars the 13 players that travelled were full value for their win. The home team started brightly and were passing it around nicely but were getting no change from the Villa central defence today of Kevin Croke and Darren Connor, who were immense throughout the game. Villa started to dominate the midfield exchanges and were well on top through Gubby (Robert) Jordan and Stevie Fewer and they created a couple of chances for John Walsh, Colm Breen and Kevin Patan, who all went close without troubling the home keeper. Adam Garrett was tormenting the home defence with his ball winning and running behind defenders and was unlucky not to get shot on target after beating a number of defenders. In the 33rd minute after great work from Seanie Butler and Gubby Jordan setting up John Walsh who’s cross fell to Colm Breen and he unleashed an unstoppable effort to the roof of the net 1-0 Villa. Kevin Patan and John Walsh went close before the break after good work from right back Jordan Fahey who was excellent on the day. The first half finished 1-0 Villa.
In the 2nd half Villa continued to create chances and John Walsh and Kevin Patan had great chances to go 2-0 up. The home keeper then pulled of an excellent save from a Gubby Jordan strike. Villa had 16 year old Lorcan Cummins making his Junior debut in the goal and he was excellent throughout, dealing with any efforts the home team had with ease, a great prospect for future. Villa got their 2nd goal after good work from Seanie Butler released the ever running Adam Garrett who’s pin point pass into the feet of Gubby Jordan was dispatched excellently to wrap up the win.
Villa saw out the game and nearly had a couple more goals but it was an excellent all round display from all the lads on the day to progress to the next round of the cup with superb displays from Jordan Fahy, Stevie Fewer, Gubby Jordan, John Walsh and man on match on the day Adam Garrett.

Villa were away for this Cup tie down in Waterford City. The game started at a hectic pace with both defences under pressure. Chances in the first 30 minutes were limited with both defences playing well. Villa were very unlucky not to go ahead on the 30th minute when Sean Condron got his head on a Scott Brennan cross and the ball looked to have crossed the line but the Referee did not give it. In the 35th minute Condron again found himself in space but his shot was saved by the keeper. Bohs were not without their own chances but they found Stephen Donovan in the Villa goal in fine form. 0-0 Half Time.
The second half was not without chances for both sides with Bohs hitting the crossbar and post in a 10-minute spell. Villa also hit the crossbar with 10 minutes to go from a good effort by Siya Ndzganini. The game finished 0-0.
The first half of extra time was quite enough with everything at stake both sides were playing safe football. Bohs did take the lead from a corner with 6 minutes to go in extra time. Villa didn't give up and with 4 minutes to go a Jack Kelly free kick was met by Adam Daly who made no mistake. The game finished 1:1 And it took penalties to decide the tie. Bohs were up first and Stephen Donovan dived down to his left to save. All the Villa spot kicks were scored by Jack Kelly, Tony Galvin, Scott Brennan, Siya Ndzganini and Sean Condron to put the boy's into the last 32 of the Fai Youth Cup.
A great team performance from all the squad. Best for Villa were Tony Galvin who covered every blade of grass, Sean Condron and Gavin Shaughnessy in defence and Stephen Donovan who made some very important saves in the game.
The boys are rewarded with a home tie in the last 32.
