Saturday 14th

U12 Boys Peake Villa 11 - 1 St. Michael's

Our U12’s had a big win Saturday against an under strength Micheals team putting 11 past them. Scorers for Villa were, James Armstrong 2, Henry Fogarty 2, Liam Mc Cormack 2, Jack Kelly 2, Paddy Creedon 1, Oisin O’ Brien 1 and Stephen Carroll 1.

U16 Boys Cahir Park 1 - 6 Peake Villa

This was the opening game of the season for the U16 boys. They started quite quickly and Matthew McKevitt had the ball in the net after only two minutes as he latched onto a great through ball from Jack Hackett. The second came 12 minutes later and once again Jack Hackett was the provider and Matthew McKevitt the scorer with a well taken stike accross the keeper and into the left side. Cahir Park began to come into the match and had a number of good chances that just went wide. Half Time 2-0. Villa started the seconf half the same way they started the first and scored two quick goals. The first from a corner that Loarn O'Toole planted in the back of the net. The second again from a corner clearance that was met by Connor Murphy on the volley from 35 yards and his scorcher of a shot flew into the top left corner. Peake Villa made a number of changes and used all 5 subs. Cahir Park continued to press forward and were rewarded when they scored a goal from a quick break. Jack Hacket popped up once again with a superb through ball that Colm Pearson aka Jimmy planted into the bottom right hand corner. The sixth goal came from a quick throw taken by Matthew Kelly to Colm Pearson who avoided a number of tackles to score his second. Man of the Match was Matthew Kelly playing in the left back position. Final Score Peake Villa 6 - 1 Cahir Park.

Youths St. Kevin's 2 - 4 Peake Villa

Villa youths had a great win against their local rivals and came out on top with a lot of players missing. Scorers for Villa were Mikey Wade 2, Cormac Lanigan 1 and Jack Derby 1.

Sunday 15th

U12 Girls Peake Villa 2 - 2 Cashel Town 2

The Girls took centre stage at the weekend when they took part in the first ever competitive match today up at a wet and windy Villa. The weather did not stop a fine crowd coming up to watch the girls. Cashel Town were the opposition on the day and what a day it was. Villa took the lead in the 2nd minute when Saoirse Teer shot from distance and beat the Cashel keeper. Villa with the wind at their backs pressed hard after this and came close on a few occasions but couldn’t break down a stern Cashel defence. Cashel got level 15 minutes in when they struck the upright only for the Cashel forward to strike before the Villa keeper Emma Kelly had control of the ball. Villa went 2-1 up just before the break when Saoirse Teer struck again close in. Half time Villa 2 Cashel 1.
The wind picked up in the 2nd half so Villa were under pressure from the off, only for some stern defending by Zoe O’ Meara and some good saves by Emma Kelly in the goal Cashel could have been a few up early in the 2nd half. Cashel finally got the equalizer with 12 minutes to go when their forward struck a powerful shot at goal which saw the Villa keeper get her hands to it but couldn’t keep it out. Villa we’re under pressure after this and played brilliantly to keep Cashel at bay with the villa keeper making another good save just before the end. Villa broke in the last minute and could have nicked a winner when good play saw Anna Derby strike only for the Cashel keeper to save well.
Final score was 2-2 and it was the fairest result with neither side deserving to lose. What a pleasure to view this spectacle and be part of the day. Both the Villa girls and Cashel deserve a lot of credit for braving the weather and the nerves to put on such a spectacle. Well done to all the supporters for coming, thanks to Liam Browne of Cashel for his kind words after the match.

Junior B Bansha Celtic B 3 - 1 Peake Villa B

Peake Villa B travelled to Bansha Sunday and we’re unlucky not to at least share the spoils. Villa found themselves 2-0 down at the break after missing a hat full of chances. The 2nd half saw Villa have 3 goals disallowed, score an Own Goal and score from a great strike to the Top corner by Micheal Cahill.

Junior A Cahir Park 4 - 4 Peake Villa A

Villa travelled to Cahir Sunday and wer’e involved in another high scoring game, they had most of the play in the 1st 20 minutes with 3 guilt edged chances only to find themselves 2 down when the defence was split wide open twice. They finished the half strong and were awarded a penalty when Gary Loyns was brought down,  Micheal Butler scored to pull one back for villa.
The 2nd half saw villa equalize in the 50th and take the lead in the 59th minute when Ted o Connor scored and then Micheal Butler scored to put Villa 3-2 ahead. The lead did not last long with Cahir equalizing in the 68th minute and then take the lead after a fine strike in the 80th minute, Villa pressed after this and were rewarded in the 90th minute when Ted O’ Connor struck again to earn a point for Villa.

The club wishes the Best of luck to Gar Loyns and Jody O’ Grady who head off to Australia, they will be missed from the Villa squad.
